Julie Martin-Tilmann

Art has always been a part of Julie Tilmann’s life. She loves a challenge and opportunity to apply her numerous art skills into a project.  Julie earned her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degrees from Central Michigan University. She retired after 30 years of teaching art at Morley Stanwood Junior and Senior High School. She was co-director at Artworks Gallery and Gift Shop in Big Rapids, Michigan for three years. For five years she was Community Outreach exhibits leader, and currently is on the exhibits team for Artworks. Julie teaches and creates in a variety of medium. She enjoys painting, drawing, pottery, metals, and creating unique silk scarves. She is frequently commissioned to do portraiture, murals, metal sculpture and paintings.

Carrie Weis
Carrie Weis is the Museum and Gallery Director at Ferris State University overseeing both the Art Gallery and the Card Wildlife Education Center.  She began her career at Ferris in 1999.  Weis holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Kendall College of Art & Design, and a B.I.S. degree with a major in Studio Fine Art and a minor in Art History from Ferris State University, and she has completed a certification in Museum Studies with a concentration in Collections Care from the International Preservation Studies Center.

Carrie has curated numerous exhibitions and has developed numerous interdisciplinary creative initiatives.  As an educator, she has taught studio art courses as an adjunct professor at Ferris State University and at Kendall College of Art & Design in their continuing education program.   Carrie has presented at cultural colloquia and conferences including the International Arts in Society Conference, Midwest Modern Language Association, Michigan Museum Association, University of Michigan Humanities Colloquium, and the Ferris Humanities Colloquium. She has sat on the Michigan Humanities Council as a mini-grant juror as well as acted as juror for numerous group and solo exhibitions and competitions throughout the state.

Artistically, Carrie continues to pursue her career in painting; exhibiting in state and regional juried shows where she has received a number of artistic awards.  In 2010 she was the recipient of a Golden Apple Artist Residency in Harrington Maine during their inaugural year. This body of work is an exploration of color, pattern, and texture as it relates to the Chaos Theory.
